VPN for Mac

ProstoVPN is a native macOS application, not an Electron wrapper or browser extension:

• Universal Binary — runs natively on both Apple Silicon (M1-M4) and Intel Macs. No Rosetta translation overhead

• Requires macOS 12 Monterey or later — supports macOS 12, 13, 14, and 15

VPN should not slow down your Mac or drain your battery. Here's what to expect:

• Battery impact — approximately 5-8% additional drain during active browsing. Video streaming impact is even lower since the screen and decoder dominate power consumption
• RAM usage — approximately 120 MB including the VPN engine
• CPU usage — near zero during idle, minimal during active use thanks to hardware AES acceleration on Apple Silicon
• Activity Monitor — ProstoVPN appears as a standard process. Monitor resource usage in real-time through the built-in macOS Activity Monitor

• Auto-connect — VPN activates automatically when you launch the app
• Keep connection — restores VPN after network changes or sleep mode
• Smart routing — route only the traffic that needs protection through VPN. Local services stay fast
• Custom DNS — choose from Google, Cloudflare, AdGuard, or system DNS
• Menu bar app — connect and disconnect with one click from the menu bar. No window needed
